Chronography term was coined by
a pioneer French physiologist and photographer
named Étienne-Jules Marey
is actually a set of photographs showing gradual movement steps,
exposed on a single frame or many frames set together
in gradual sequences to study the movement of the subject.

Marley's famous picture of flying pelican (1882) captured using many innovative photographic instruments like; 'photographic gun', taking 12 consecutive frames in a second and on a single picture, for his studies of movement of various animals, including human locomotion.

He made movies with high speed as 60 images per
second with excellent picture quality.

Actually his pioneer work in capturing and displaying moving object techniques helped the 'cinematography', then an emerging field in those days.
