We who have looked each other in the eyes
This journey long, and trundled with the train,
Now to our separate purposes must rise,
Becoming decent strangers once again.
The little chamber we have made our home
In which we so conveniently abode,
The complicated journey we have come,
Must be an unremembered episode.
Our common purpose made us all like friends.
How suddenly it ends!
A nod, a murmur, or a little smile,
Or often nothing, and away we file.
I hate to leave you, comrades. I will stay
To watch you drift apart and pass away.
It seems impossible to go and meet
All those strange eyes of people in the street.
But, like some proud unconsious god, the train
Gathers us up and scatters us again.

My Sun, My Hills

I'll tell you how the sun rose,-

A ribbon at a time.

The steeples swam in amethyst,

The news like squirrels ran.

The hills untied their bonnets,

The bobolinks begun.

Then I said softly to myself,

"That must have been the sun !"

Dew Drops

A Dew sufficed itself
and satisfied a leaf,
And felt, "how vast a destiny !
How trivial is life !"

The sun went out to work,
The day went out to play,
But not again that dew was seen
By physiognomy.

Whether by day abducted,
Or emptied by the sun
Into the sea, in passing,
Eternally unknown.

Woodland Friends: Flowers, Bees, Monkeys

The bee is not afraid of me,
I know the butterfly;
The pretty people in the woods
receive me cordially.

The brooks laugh louder when I come,
The breezes madder play.
Wherefore, mine eyes, they silver mists ?
Wherefore, O summer's day ?

* An anniversary day, of the 26th January 1950; when a free India adopted it's own constitution.

* This day the government machinery tries to put forth it's power & progress achieved so far....

* But the people at large show that bright sparkle in their eyes and electrifying move in their steps on this day....for an aspiration to move forward....to be the one to achieve the goals of a 'New World Order'....and be as 'One'....with 'The Oneness of Mankind'.
# all the above four pictures are from the Republic Day celebrations at my school (Government High School Saraitikra, Ambikapur) as of today.

The Great River 'Ganges' Of India: At 'Rishikesh' & 'Haridwar'

River 'Ganges' (pronounced 'Ganga') is the cradle of many Indian mythologies, so deep in psyche that it is regarded as the most sacred river, part of many rituals of lives of scores of Indians, since time unknown to memory.
From it's Himalayan abode as it enters in the plains of Northern India, it touches:

# Rishikesh (pic 1 & 2):Located in the foothills of Himalayas in Northern India, known as the Gateway to the Himalayas, 25 kilometers north of another holy city Haridwar.
The sacred river Ganges flows through Rishikesh. It is here that the river leaves the Shivalik mountains in the Himalayas & flows out into the plains of northern part.

# Haridwar (pic 3 & 4): It is an important piligrimage city of India. The river Ganges, after flowing 253 kilometers (157 miles) from it's source at 'Gaumukh' at the edge of the 'Gangotri Glacier' enters the India-Gangetic Plains of North India for the first time at Haridwar.

Hill Call

I got posted to a new place and the first day while driving to my work place on a cold December morning, I was just hemmed in the thought of my lost surroundings and friends.

Suddenly on my right window, I saw an image of misty mountain taking shape gradually. For a while, I saw it was a chain of two or three.....
For a second I felt if I was not alone.

Since then we have grown a link with each other. Every morning they are on my right side, as if assuring me; and evenings when I am back from office, they are on left, as if saying, never mind..never be tired..we are together.

When I plan my journey, they are the first to greet me on the railway station, and when I am back....they cast a heavenly shadow and I feel if I am riding on a toy-train of my childhood.

Note:
Last two pictures of the described place were obtained with the help of 'Google Map'.
